Pinball will ofcourse never be playable in mame but there is where the philosophy shows about it being a documentary project and it emulates the roms in the pinball machines, but they are never going to simulate the gameplays.Īnother thing with mamedev they have a "rule" not to add games that are still in arcades, or newer than 10 years, but this is a rule with exception i think. I know that many mamedevs disagree with the addition of gambling and pinball games, but both can be defended. On your comments on Mamedev and their priorities, Mame has never been about emulating it perfect for playing, it is and always been a documentary project. Also have discussed this with Aaron Hightower (Lead programmer of the game), and even he cant remember how the encrytption works, the thing is the game has a bootrom chip wich contains the data, and to my knowledge the Mamedev team has not been able to get anything usufull out of this chip. And we are a few that has been looking into the encryption of the hd and so on. I have chips and hd for all version of Rush 2049. Even if it's not perfect (nothing will beat the real hardware, even with 100% perfect Mantalow: Well, sorry for this long answer, I hope that in some nearly future, MAME will be able to run video games from the modern era (2000~2010) without too many problem. I can mention the majority of Taito F3 system games full of graphic and sound glitches in MAME, and emulated perfectly in Raine. I mean the System32 Sega games, and sony ZN1 & ZN2 are emulated by Zinc since many years, and still MAME can't run the majority of these games without hanging out or fail to render something. I would like MAME devs to focus on emulate perfectly the games they add before trying to implement poorly more games.

I could be mistaken but I think it's only a matter of time before we can play modern games in MAME (the majority of post 2000 games won't work or do not work properly because of broken drivers, insuficiant documentation about hardware, protections, CDROM, Hard Drives, GPU emulation, Bad Dump), the main problem is that MAME has gone insane since several years, even now, I don't understand why there is slots / video poker / mahjong machines in MAME.
I think for example of double dragon, for years we had to play a bootleg version, or CPS-2 and 3, which was crazy stuff to emulate properly. Some games with heavy protections made years to work properly in MAME.
